From the period sources

Giovanni Benedetto Platti, an Italian chamber-musician, was born in Venice in the early years of the eighteenth century, and was known as both an oboist and violinist, according to the Biographie universelle des musiciens (1866). Around 1740, he entered the service of the Prince-Bishop of Würzburg, where his wife was also attached to the chapel. Platti published several collections of his compositions in Nuremberg, including six sonatas for harpsichord, Op. 1 (1746), six harpsichord concertos, Op. 2, six solos for flute, Op. 3, and another set of six harpsichord sonatas, Op. 4. He also left numerous concertos and sonatas for harpsichord in manuscript. The New Encyclopedia of Music and Musicians (1924) notes his “notable clavier-concertos and sonatas,” and points to scholarly interest in his work, specifically mentioning Fausto Torrefranca’s arguments in Rivista Musicale (1910) that Platti was a “pioneer in the change in style in the middle of the 18th century.”
