Historical context
Pachelbel’s ‘Hexachordum Apollinis’, a notable work for organ or clavier, was dedicated in 1699. As a book confirms, Pachelbel chose to dedicate this collection to two esteemed figures, Ferdinand Tobias Richter and Buxtehude. This significant collection, consisting of “VI variirte Arien” (six varied arias), was also published in Nuremberg in 1699, as another book notes.
