From the period sources

Feliks Nowowiejski, born in Wartenburg in 1875 according to A Biographical Dictionary of Musicians (1905), received his training at several notable institutions. He studied at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin and the Church-music School at Ratisbon, later continuing his education at the “Akademische Meisterschule” in Berlin. His talent was recognized early, as he won the prestigious Meyerbeer prize in 1901 for an 8-part double fugue, an overture, and his oratorio Der verlorene Sohn, as recorded by A Biographical Dictionary of Musicians (1905).

Nowowiejski’s compositional output included two symphonies and the oratorio Quo Vadis, based on Sienkewicz, which was later highlighted as a “notable initial performance” by The Oratorio Society of Baltimore, according to Grove’s Dictionary of Music and Musicians: American Supplement (1920). The New Encyclopedia of Music and Musicians (1924) further notes that Nowowiejski, described as an “Able Polish-Prussian conductor and composer,” won the Meyerbeer prize twice and the Paderewski prize, also holding scholarships from the German government in 1900 and 1902. He directed choral societies in Berlin, and from 1909-10, conducted symphony concerts and the Musical Society at Cracow before returning to Berlin and later moving to Posen in 1918. His works also include the opera Busola, overtures, an orchestral fantasy, and another oratorio, Die Auffindung des heil. Kreuzes (1906).
