Moritz Moszkowski received his musical training from the distinguished pianist and pedagogue Theodor Kullak, who founded the “Neue Akademie der Tonkunst” in Berlin, according to A Biographical Dictionary of Musicians (1900). Kullak, a former court pianist, counted Moszkowski among his pupils. Moszkowski himself became a piano teacher in Berlin, where he instructed a number of students. Among them were Theodor Heinrich Friedrich Bohlmann, a pianist who made a successful debut in Berlin in 1890, and Helen Hood, an American composer who studied with Moszkowski for a year in Berlin before residing in Boston, as recorded in A Biographical Dictionary of Musicians (1900).
