Historical context

Mendelssohn’s Lieder ohne Worte, Op. 62, emerged from compositions spanning a few years in the early 1840s. According to the book, the sixth piece in A major was composed in 1842. The book further notes that several other pieces within the collection, specifically Nos. 2 in B major, 3 in E minor, and 4 in G major, were composed in Leipzig in 1843. This fifth collection of Mendelssohn’s “Songs without Words” was subsequently published, appearing in September 1844, as stated in the book.
