From the period sources
Sebastián Aguilera de Heredia was a Spanish monk and composer who served as maestro de musica at the cathedral in Saragossa during the early 17th century, according to multiple sources including A Biographical Dictionary of Musicians (1900) and Grove’s Dictionary of Music and Musicians (1904). His most notable contribution was a collection of Magnificats for four, five, six, seven, and eight voices, published in 1618. These works were evidently well-received and enduring, as A Dictionary of Music (1896) notes they were “still sung at Saragossa” and in other Spanish churches well into the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His “Magnificat (super 8 tonos)” for four voices is specifically listed in the 17th-century section of Spanish church music in A Dictionary of Music and Musicians (1879).
