From the period sources

Károly Aggházy, a Hungarian pianist born in Pest in 1855, received instruction from significant figures including Bruckner, Volkmann, and Liszt, according to The New Encyclopedia of Music and Musicians (1924). He began appearing as a concertist in 1882, and by 1888, he was teaching at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin, where, as A Biographical Dictionary of Musicians (1900) notes, he taught piano to pupils like Johannes Doebber. Later, Aggházy became a professor at the Pest Conservatory. His compositions, which include the opera Maritta, the cantata Rákóczy, chamber-music, and piano-pieces, are all described by The New Encyclopedia of Music and Musicians (1924) as possessing a “decided Hungarian flavor.”
